Teams armed with hoses pushed a suspended barrel to their opponents' side. Their goal: to claim the champions' trophy.
Good karma seems to benefit Good Will.
The fire company from Belvidere took home the trophies -- both the men's and women's -- from an annual competition among firefighters after helping make sure the games could go on.
The Mountain Lake Fire Co. in nearby Liberty Township draws firefighters from around Warren County, and at least one from the other side of New Jersey, to its barrel fight each year, where teams use firehoses to push a suspended barrel to their opponents' side.
The barrel fell from the line in the second match, but Good Will Fire Co. was there to help set it back up, the hosts said in a Facebook post.
In all, there were 28 teams from 11 fire companies and one rescue squad. Traveling the farthest to be there was Pleasant Plains Fire Co. from Toms River in Ocean County.
The winners get to keep the trophy until next year's games.
