Sempai John Hudson Olson, of Golden Dragon Karate School has been working toward this goal for 8 years.
Sempai John Hudson Olson, of Golden Dragon Karate School is now a 1st degree black belt.
John Hudson Olson earned his first degree black belt. (Courtesy photo) Olson started in January 2009 when he was only 7 years old. At 15, he is the youngest Sho-Dan 1st degree black belt ever promoted, at the Alpha facility.
He had been a junior black belt since November 2014.
Along with receiving his new promotion a special obi (belt) made for him from Shureido in Okinawa, with his name in Japanese on the one side and Golden Dragon Karate Dojo on the other side in Japanese, plus the gold stripe noting his 1st degree rank.
He competes often in karate tournaments in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and travels to North Carolina to take part in karate summer camps.
