31Ride will connect Warren County commuters to I-78 and New York metro transit options in Clinton.
Starting next week, Warren County commuters will have a new route to choose from.
Ride31 will travel the Route 31 corridor weekdays between Oxford Township and Clinton in Hunterdon County, linking travelers to Interstate 78 and New York City metro area transit options.
"On June 6, Oxford becomes the gateway to the world," Warren County Freeholder Ed Smith said Thursday at a small gathering in Washington to unveil the shuttle.
Washington Mayor Scott McDonald said he hopes that Ride31 will also bring tourism back to the county.
Officials credited a coordinated effort from several agencies with the shuttle's development over 18 months. A $200,000 New Jersey Transit grant provides a year's worth of operating funds.
The shuttle begins at 6 a.m., with the last stop at 7:50 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Commuters can park at the Oxford and Washington Township municipal buildings, and the Family Dollar in Washington Borough. There is a suggested fare of $2 each way.
