Area wrestlers claimed half the individual championships and all the hardware Thursday evening during the conclusion of the 23rd Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic at Liberty’s Memorial Gym.
Northampton’s Julian Chlebove (126), KJ Fenstermacher (132) and Cade Moisey (170); Nazareth’s Sammy Sasso (145) and Brock Wilson (152) and Phillipsburg’s Drew Horun (195) and Robert Melise (220) all took championships.
The Konkrete Kids (first, 184.5 points) and Easton (second, 159) won the team trophies. Sasso was named Outstanding Wrestler and Melise won the John Fritz Award for most pins/fastest time.
Local wrestlers finishing second were Easton’s Jonathan Miers (126), Saucon Valley’s Nick Rosengrant (113) and Devin Fontanez (220), Liberty’s Luke Werner (120) and Pen Argyl’s Chase Anklam (152).
The tournament, at 32 teams for the first team, was boosted by a visit from Stoughton, from Wisconsin, which finished third in the team standings with one champion, junior Tyler Dow at 160. Their tough-on-top athletes and enthusiastic and positive fans made for a superb addition to the event.
