All you need to know.

The 80th meeting of one of wrestling’s greatest scholastic rivalries went to Phillipsburg Saturday night as the Stateliners topped Easton 40-27 in front of over 2,000 fans at Phillipsburg High School in Lopatcong Township.

The Rovers (10-4 overall) lead the overall series 63-17 but the Stateliners (8-1) have won three of the last four meetings.

Saturday night saw Phillipsburg win 9 of 14 bouts, six with bonus points.

“We thought we could win 10 matches,” Stateliner head coach Dave Post said. “We knew we had 7 won any way we did it. And once we knew we were starting at 106, we knew we’d have points at the end – who better to close out a match than two guys (Drew Horun and Robert Melise, at 195 and 220 pounds respectively though they wrestled 220 and 285 Saturday) ranked in the top three in the state?"
