There were injuries as well in the multi-vehicle crash.
One person is dead and others injured after a crash on Interstate 78 East just past the Route 22 entrance in Greenwich Township, New Jersey State Police confirm.
A medical helicopter landed on the highway after the wreck that involved at least four vehicles -- a car and three trucks. A pickup truck rolled over and remained on its side in the median. The car was the only vehicle to remain on the highway.
A lane and the right shoulder remained open for a time but were eventually shut as the fatal crash investigation got underway. Three lanes were closed at 12:45 p.m., as two lanes were opened to traffic, that had backed up into Pennsylvania.
Rollover wreck shuts I-78 eastbound
Eastbound delays were an hour, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Westbound rubbernecking delays impacted traffic in that direction, the DOT said, causing a 15-minute delay. It was resolved by 1:05 p.m., the DOT said.
By 12:45, traffic had backed up over the toll bridge and into Williams Township, more than four miles from the crash.
