Route 57 was shut for nearly three hours early Wednesday morning in Greenwich Township after a car overturned and took down a utility pole.
The driver got out of the Hyundai Veloster on the eastbound shoulder before emergency personnel arrived, according to a report from the scene. He was taken by Greenwich EMS to St. Luke's Hospital in Phillipsburg.
The highway was shut between Rickline and Stewartsville roads after the 3:45 a.m. crash while JCP&L responded. As of 6 a.m., 83 customers were without power in Greenwich and 196 more in Franklin Township, according to the power company's outage site.

About 6:30 a.m., police reopened a lane for alternating traffic on the two-lane road. As of 7:30 a.m., power company workers continued their efforts along the highway.
