Nazareth freshman Andrew Cerniglia won the most-falls trophy.

Lehigh Valley wrestlers collected an outsize share of the hardware available at the 24th Beast of the East Tournament Sunday afternoon at the University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center.

Bethlehem Catholic senior Mikey Labriola was named the Outstanding Wrestler. Labriola won the 170-pound championship by pinning Don Bosco Prep's Dom Mandarino in 5 minutes and 42 seconds in the final.

"I wasn't expecting to win this award," Labriola said. "It is a very pleasant surprise."

The most-falls award went to Nazareth freshman 113-pounder Andrew Cerniglia who posted six pins in the tournament. Unfortunately for the Blue Eagle frosh, who really seemed to come into his own this weekend as he finished eighth, he suffered a broken collarbone in a consolation match and will be out for a time to be determined, Nazareth coach Dave Crowell confirmed.

Becahi won an enormous silver trophy for coming in second place as a team with 174.5 points. Blair Academy took home an even larger cup for its first-place finish with 290 points, helped by Nazareth resident Mike Madara's fourth-place finish at 120 pounds.

Nazareth finished in seventh place in the team standings with 121 points, the top public school performance. Northampton was 12th at 105.5, Saucon Valley 30th at 57.5 and Phillipsburg 32nd at 56.5.
