Neither the bus nor a railroad maintenance truck that was also involved appeared to sustain any significant damage.
Multiple passengers on a transit bus were taken by ambulance following a collision with a railroad maintenance truck Friday afternoon in Phillipsburg.
It occurred about 2:45 p.m. on westbound Memorial Parkway (Route 22) near North Hillcrest Boulevard in the area of Phillipsburg Middle School.
Both the Warren County Transportation bus and Norfolk-Southern truck stopped in the area below the foot bridge linking the school to Morris Street.
Ambulances responded from the Phillipsburg, Lopatcong Township, Greenwich Township and Easton emergency squads. Emergency radio reports indicated six people in all were taken to area hospitals for evaluation and possible treatment.
Phillipsburg police continued to investigate and had no information immediately available to release.
Neither vehicle appeared to sustain any significant damage. The driver's side rear of the bus was slightly crumpled.
