Cops will make pies with kids during a weekly event at a local restaurant.
Police and a local restaurant have cooked up an idea for community outreach.
"Pizza with the Police" will be held 5 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday in October at Gara's Pizza, 200 Stryker Road in Lopatcong Township. (lehighvalleylive.com file photo)"Pizza with the Police" will be a weekly event starting Tuesday at Gara's Pizza in Lopatcong Township, where township police officers will whip up some pies with kids.
"We wanted to do something to show the community what a dedicated department we have in Lopatcong," restaurant owner Chris Gara said in a news release. Police Chief Jason Garcia said it will be a positive experience in a fun atmosphere.
The event will run 5 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday in October. In addition to helping kids make pizza, officers will answer questions and have demonstrations, including fingerprinting, the release said.
Gara's Pizza is at 200 Stryker Road in Lopatcong.
